Book Three of the Utterly Crime Series

A Suffolk Based crime novel in which three apprentice carpenters find themselves embroiled in a dark and dangerous underworld of drugs and illegal hare coursing.

Chrissie, Nick and Matt are apprentice carpenters from a fictional Utterly Academy in Stowmarket. Nick stumbles across the body of a young woman, so peaceful she could be sleeping. A ferocious murder quickly follows and Inspector Clive Merry is pulled in as the apprentices brush against the dangerous world of illegal hare coursing and drugs. The action spreads form Bury St Edmunds to the Orwell Bridge, while a manuscript restoration business, totem pole carving and preparation for the annual raft race at Needham Market occupy the quirky characters.[/text_output][text_output]

Reviewers say …

‘I enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this one is definitely on another level! The characters remain believable and likeable, their latest adventures unfold at a rapid pace, and the balance between descriptions of their doings, descriptions of their thoughts and descriptions of their surroundings is spot on. The descriptions themselves are well written, too – no “stodge”, no “purple passages”, but the same keen observation and detailed knowledge of the Suffolk countryside that was evident in the earlier books. All in all, an extremely good read – Chris Diva’ (amazon.co.uk)

‘I have now read all three of the Utterly series and have enjoyed them all. They are set around the area where I live, so I can identify the locations in the story – Needhamite’ (amazon.co.uk)
